Getting Groceries to Your Villa in Santanyí and the South
The southeast is full of pool villas, rural fincas and apartments spread across Santanyí, the Cala d'Or coves, Portocolom, Campos and the coast around Sa Ràpita and Ses Salines, and the supermarkets sit in the towns rather than next to the houses. The good news is that if you are driving from the airport, you pass several big shops on the way. This is a quick guide to where they are, when they open, and how to arrive to a stocked kitchen instead.
The short version
| If you are staying in | Your nearest real supermarket | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Cala d'Or and Cala Egos | Large Eroski at the entrance to Cala d'Or; a smaller one in Cala Egos | The big Eroski is the best shop in the area |
| Santanyí town | Eroski on the Santanyí road; a Lidl; small daily food shops | Wednesday and Saturday markets are excellent for fresh produce |
| Porto Petro | A couple of small supermarkets | Fine for top-ups; drive to Cala d'Or for a big shop |
| Campos | Mercadona, Eroski, Lidl and Aldi | Right on the airport road, so ideal for shopping on the way in |
| Colònia de Sant Jordi | Eroski in town, plus a Carrefour and Spar | Well covered for a small resort |
| Sa Ràpita and Ses Covetes | Small local shops; drive to Campos or Colònia de Sant Jordi | Right by Es Trenc, so quiet and short on shops |
| Portocolom | Supermarkets in the village; Felanitx a short drive inland | Better served than most of the smaller ports |
| Ses Salines and the coves | Small shops; drive to Santanyí or Colònia de Sant Jordi | Quiet by design, so no big shop on the doorstep |
Santanyí, Cala d'Or and Porto Petro
For a big shop in this corner, the large Eroski at the entrance to Cala d'Or, by the first roundabout as you come in, is the best choice, with a smaller Eroski over in Cala Egos as a backup. Santanyí town has its own Eroski on the Santanyí road and a Lidl, plus small food shops that open daily, and its Wednesday and Saturday markets are worth timing a trip around for fruit, veg and local produce. Porto Petro is small and keeps a couple of little supermarkets, fine for topping up but not a full shop.
Further up the coast, Portocolom is one of the better-served of the smaller ports, with supermarkets in the village itself and Felanitx a short drive inland if you want more choice. It is an easier base for a first shop than the coves further south.
Local tip: the village shops in places like Alqueria Blanca are good for bread and basics but close over the long lunch, roughly half past one to five. Plan around the siesta or you will find the shutters down.
Campos, the airport road and a shop on the way in
This is the part worth knowing. If you are driving from the airport to Cala d'Or, Santanyí or the south coast, you pass right through Campos, which has a Mercadona, an Eroski, a Lidl and an Aldi. Calling in there on the way means you arrive with the shop already done and never have to go back out. There is also a Lidl in Santanyí on the same route.
Local tip: Mercadona is usually the best value of the lot for a weekly shop, and the one in Campos is an easy stop with parking, rather than fighting for a space in a busy resort.
Sa Ràpita, Ses Salines and Colònia de Sant Jordi
Down on the south coast, Colònia de Sant Jordi is well served for its size, with an Eroski in town plus a Carrefour and Spar shops. Ses Salines and the quieter spots inland rely on small local shops, so for a proper trolley you drive to Colònia de Sant Jordi or up to Santanyí.
Sa Ràpita and neighbouring Ses Covetes are a different case again. They sit right at the top of Es Trenc, which is why people rent there, and they are small: a marina, a handful of restaurants, and shops that cover bread, water and not much else. For a real shop you drive inland to Campos, roughly ten to fifteen minutes, or along to Colònia de Sant Jordi. If your villa is out here for the beach and the quiet, that drive on arrival day is exactly the thing worth skipping.
Local tip: the road down to Es Trenc gets busy from mid-morning in summer and parking fills early. If you are going to shop and beach on the same day, do the shop first or have it delivered and go straight to the sand.
Opening hours and Sundays
The bigger supermarkets here open Monday to Saturday from around 9am into the evening. Sundays vary: in the season the Lidl in Campos and several tourist-area shops open on Sunday mornings into the afternoon, while the Eroski branches in Campos and Cala d'Or have closed all day on some Sundays in the past. Hours change between high season and the quieter months, so if you are arriving on a Sunday it is worth checking your nearest branch rather than assuming.
The easier option: have it delivered
This is what Prep'd does. We do the shop and time the delivery to your arrival, so the kitchen is stocked when you walk in, with your drinks chilled to your preference and ready to open after the journey. Where the property gives us access before check-in, we put everything inside and get the perishables into the fridge, so it is all waiting before you arrive. You just tell us your arrival time and what you would like chilled. The Essential covers breakfast and kitchen basics, The Sunrise is a week of breakfast for two, and there are packs for the beach and for the wine on the terrace. If you would rather choose the items yourself, Build Your Own lets you put together your own order instead of taking a fixed pack, with a €50 minimum and no limit on how much you add. It is the most popular option. You can see everything on the shop page.

Only small local shops covering bread, water and basics. For a proper shop you drive inland to Campos, about ten to fifteen minutes, or along the coast to Colònia de Sant Jordi.
Can I get groceries delivered to a villa in the south?
Yes. Prep'd times delivery to your arrival, with your drinks chilled to your preference. Where the property allows access before check-in, we put everything inside and into the fridge, so it is waiting when you walk in.
Do you only deliver to villas, or to fincas and apartments too?
Any holiday rental. Villas, fincas, apartments, townhouses and holiday homes booked through Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or an agency are all the same to us. Rural fincas are some of our most common deliveries, because they are usually furthest from a supermarket.
