Arriving Late at Your Mallorca Villa Without Starting Hungry

Prep'd Team 14 September 2026

A late flight, the hire-car queue and a transfer out to the villa can easily put you through the front door well after the shops have shut. By then your options are a petrol station or a small convenience shop, if there is one nearby at all. This is a quick guide to what is realistically open late, and how to make sure breakfast and the first morning are sorted before you even land.

The short version

Arrival timeWhat's realistically openBest plan
Up to about 9pmBig supermarkets in the larger towns and resortsA quick shop on the way, if you have the energy
9pm to 11pmSome resort convenience shops and petrol stationsGrab basics; do not count on a full shop
After 11pmMostly just petrol-station shops, some 24 hoursHave food waiting; nothing useful will be open near most villas
Late on a SundayVery little, especially away from the resortsPlan as if nothing is open

What's actually open late

Most supermarkets in Mallorca close somewhere between 9pm and 10pm. After that, the reliable options are the small Spar and convenience shops in the busier resorts, some of which stay open later into the evening, and petrol-station shops on the main roads, a number of which run around the clock. These cover the basics, water, milk, bread, a few snacks, but not a proper shop, and they price for the convenience.

Local tip: petrol-station shops are the genuine late-night backstop. If you know you are landing late, note where the nearest one is on your route before you set off, rather than hunting for it tired at midnight.

Why rural and mountain villas are the catch

The later you land, the more the location of your villa matters. In a resort you may still find a convenience shop open at 11pm. Out at a rural finca, up in the Tramuntana, or along a quiet stretch of coast, there is often nothing open within a sensible drive once the evening is over. Apartments in the busier resorts fare better, but not by much after midnight. Those are exactly the villas people choose for the peace and the views, and exactly the ones where an empty fridge at midnight is hardest to fix.

The minimum worth having waiting

If you do nothing else, have breakfast and the first morning covered: coffee or tea, milk, bread, water, and something easy for the kids. That alone turns a stressful late arrival into a calm one, because the first thing anyone wants after travelling is a cup of coffee and a sit down, not a drive to find a shop.

The easier option: have it delivered

This is what Prep'd does, and late arrivals are exactly the case it is built for. We time the delivery to your arrival, however late that is, with your drinks chilled and ready after a long journey. Where the property gives us access before check-in, everything is already inside and in the fridge when you walk in, so it does not matter that the shops are shut. You just tell us your arrival time and what you would like chilled. The Essential covers breakfast and kitchen basics, and The Sunrise is a week of breakfast for two. If you would rather choose the items yourself, Build Your Own lets you put together your own order instead of taking a fixed pack, with a €50 minimum and no limit on how much you add. It is the most popular option. You can see everything on the shop page.

Frequently asked questions

What's open late near villas in Mallorca?

After most supermarkets close around 9pm to 10pm, your options are resort convenience shops, some open later, and petrol-station shops on the main roads, a number of which are open 24 hours. These cover basics only.

We're landing after midnight, will anything be open?

Near a resort you might find a petrol-station shop. Out at a rural or mountain villa there is often nothing open within a sensible drive, so the safest plan is to have food waiting at the villa.

Can I get food delivered for a late arrival?

Yes. We time delivery to your arrival, however late your flight lands, with your drinks chilled and ready. Where the property allows access before check-in, everything is inside and in the fridge waiting, whether or not anything nearby is open.

Does someone need to be there to receive it?

Not usually. Where we can arrange access before check-in, we leave everything inside and chilled, so there are no keys to hand over. Otherwise we time the delivery to meet your arrival at the villa.

What's the minimum I should have waiting?

Coffee or tea, milk, bread, water and something simple for the morning. Prep'd's Essential pack covers that, and The Sunrise adds a week of breakfast for two.

Do you only deliver to villas, or to fincas and apartments too?

Any holiday rental. Villas, fincas, apartments, townhouses and holiday homes booked through Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or an agency are all the same to us. Rural fincas are some of our most common deliveries, because they are usually furthest from a supermarket.
